About Me
My name is Kelley and I am the maker behind Mosswood Pottery. I discovered pottery in graduate school as a means to recenter myself. The practice of working with clay creatively balanced out the analytical rigidity needed to complete my Biological Engineering degree. For the past 10 years I have continued made functional art as a hobby while working professionally as a Researcher in the sustainable plastics and fuels. With the arrival of my first child, I have decided to dedicate more time to this craft.
My Philosophy
At Mosswood Pottery, I believe that art should be a part of everyday life. This pottery is meant to be used, loved, and enjoyed. I respect the art of handmade elements, so each piece is unique and beautifully imperfect. To me, pottery is a practice of dreaming and also letting go of your dreams. I love the process of imagining a piece, bringing it into physical existence on the wheel, putting it in the kiln and letting go of all expectations of what it will become. My philosophy is simple: to create pottery that brings joy and beauty into your home, every day.
